Lead Bricks

Lead Bricks are produced in a wide range of sizes in the plain and the interlocking styles.

Lead Bricks are manufactured to extremely accurate tolerances, and as a result of recent production improvements, can be obtained with the almost complete absence of porosity.

The smooth surfaces of Lead Bricks allow for easier decontamination of the shield from radioactive dust.

Lead Bricks are normally produced from about 4 per cent Antimony Lead alloy, which is harder than Pure Lead, and more resistant to damage.

Any rays that penetrate the first angle of the interlocking joint will actually strike an equal or greater depth of lead than the straight thickness of the wall.

Interlocking Lead Bricks :- Interlocking Lead Bricks is extensively used for High energy radiation shielding, behind walls, within doors.

Lead bricks are also more resistant to damage. The unique design of the interlocking type permits mating surfaces to interlock thus prevents the leakage of radiation.

Typical standard sizes of Interlocking Lead Brick are :-

  • 2 x 4 x 8 inches

  • 3 to 13 inches long

  • 3 to 5 inches thick

  • 2 inches high

Some of the standard size of plain Lead Brick (non-interlocking) are :-

  • 1 x 4 x 12 inches

  • 2 x 4 x 8 inches

  • 21/2 x 4 x 12 inches
